Fish farming rapidly developing Inhambane.


Inhambane province during the year of 2015 registered a fish production estimated at 330 tons, this figure represents an increase of 33.7% compared to the same period 2014.

Fish farming is the farming of fish in pounds, as well as being an excellent source of income for fish farmers, is an alternative activity for fishing in the open sea, while there no negatives environmental impacts. In controlled environments such as lakes and rivers, there is no impact on the environment, a fact that makes the creation of captive fish for consumption and sale will grow enough in Inhambane in particular and the country in general.

Sensitization of communities through local structures has been a key element of success that has made adherence to this activity is increasingly growing in the fish farming massification plan implemented by the Provincial Government. Thus, during the reference period 338 are operated fish ponds, which corresponds to an area of 92,624 m2, a figure that represents a performance of 150% of the planned.
