Government empowers fishermen in Nampula

8 1n

An initiative of the Ministry of Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries, in support of small-scale fisheries, is boosting fishing activity and transforming lives in Nampula province.

In all districts where fishing is being developed, the results are not misleading. Fishery activity has gained new momentum in catching, preserving and disposing of fish.

In Moma, for example, the government has built and equipped with cold means, a processing plant where the Women Processors Association of Moma (Graças a Deus that means Thanks to God) works, which buys fish from local fishermen, processes it, preserves it for then sell it locally and in other parts of the province.

Opened in October 2017, by Victor Borges Governor, the impact of its implantation in that region is already felt. As a result of sales and profit obtained and distributed among the fourteen associates, some of these have seen their lives improve significantly.
